The country has grown very fast in the last few years, and we have become technologically strong. At the same time, due to the rapid digitization, today everyone is working on online transactions and e-commerce facilities like online shopping or sending money online to someone. It also has many advantages, such as it saves their time and at the same time they do not need to keep money in cash unnecessarily. But while transferring money online, many times people in a hurry accidentally send money to someone else’s bank account. If this happens to you as well, then there is no need to panic now because you can get your money back by taking care of few things. In such a situation, it is important to know how you can get your money back by fixing this mistake. So let’s know about it…
As per Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rules, it is the responsibility of the remitter to provide correct beneficiary account number and other details while making the payment. There is no mandatory rule by RBI that banks have to check everything. It is the responsibility of the sender to check the number twice and thrice. Ashutosh Khajuria, Executive Director, Federal Bank says, “If there is fraud in payment, it is null and void. But in normal payment channel, if the transfer is effected and credit has been made, it is not easy. Money back. to receive, unless the receiver agrees to return it.”
After the money is transferred to the wrong account, do these things: –
If money goes into someone else’s account from you, then you should immediately talk to your bank branch manager. Also, you will have to provide proof that you have sent money to someone else’s account by mistake, so that action can be taken on it quickly.
Also, if the money is transferred from you to the branch of the same bank in which you also have an account, then the bank only acts as an intermediary and a mail is sent to that person to return the money. If that person gives his permission, then you will get your money back in the next 7 days. Also, if your money has gone into the account of any bank, then you will have to meet the officials of that bank and tell your problem.
What if you refuse to return your money?
Many times people refuse to return the money coming in their account. In such a situation, if this is happening to you as well, then you can file an FIR against that man, and then the whole matter will have to be looked into legally.
If that person agrees to return your money by talking, then now he has to submit documents like ID and address proof to his bank, after which you can get your money.
How to Save Money from Wrong Transaction?
There is a clear instruction of the Reserve Bank that before transferring money, you must check the account number and IFSC code. If both of these are correct then the question of wrong transfer does not arise. The name may be the same, but the account number may not be the same, that too if the IFSC code is correct. If money is transferred by mistake, then immediately complain to your bank and request for reversal. Always file a written complaint which can be on paper or via email.
